Surry County, NC Chooses New, Certified ES&S Machines and Software
DOBSON, NC, June 6, 2019 — Printelect and its vendor partner, Election Systems & Software (ES&S) announce the decision of Surry County, North Carolina to extend its partnership with the companies. Surry County includes voters in the city of Mount Airy, the town of Dobson, the county seat, as well as other townships. Surry County’s approximately 43,000 registered voters will continue to cast their ballots on ES&S federally-certified voting systems.
The county made its selection after a comprehensive assessment of their options. Through their assessment, county election officials determined that ES&S provides a voting solution that is easy for both poll workers and election officials to navigate and manage.
The DS200® precinct scanner and tabulator combines the best attributes of a paper-based ballot system with the flexibility and efficiency of the latest digital-image technology – taking traditional optical-scan ballot vote tabulation to a new level.
“Surry County is extremely pleased to accept delivery of our new DS200 paper ballot tabulation system and look forward to introducing it to our voters in this year’s municipal elections,” said Susan Jarrell, Surry County Director of Elections. She continued, “During our test vote in the 2018 General Election we received very positive feedback from both voters and election officials. We look forward to a continued partnership with ES&S and Printelect. Both companies have provided an excellent level of support for North Carolina’s voting equipment since 2006.”
Surry County continues its partnership with the companies following a history of quality service and support. With Printelect service offices throughout North Carolina, the proximity to local, skilled and certified technicians has helped extend the useful life of the existing equipment to more than 12 years. The maintenance and field service capabilities, as well as a collaborative working relationship with Surry County personnel made the Printelect and ES&S partnership the right choice for the county. Maintain Voter Confidence. Enhance the Voting Experience.
“We are honored to work with Surry County,” said Mac Beeson, ES&S regional vice president of Sales. “Surry County shares our vision of maintaining voter confidence and enhancing the voting experience. We look forward to continuing a successful long-term partnership.”
“We take immense pride in the quality of our products and services,” said Owen Andrews. “We are extremely pleased that Surry County has chosen to continue working with us.”
